The third week was the pre cleanse before the actual panchakarma main cleanse. This involved me not having breakfast and instead drinking 50-80ml medicated ghee (clarified butter mixed with medicines) for 6 days in a row with the medicated ghee amount increasing daily. As the ghee was medicated it had a very bitter taste and it was very heavy to drink. To stop the urge to vomit after drinking the medicated ghee in one shot, I was also given a fresh lime and ginger tea to drink.

The ghee would fill my stomach until the afternoon and at 5pm I would eat a very watery Kichari (a stew of rice lentils and water). This was the same routine for 6 days and my massages continued of Abhyanga, Bashpa and instead of Sirodhara I had Takradhara which was the same concept but instead of oil dropping on my forehead it was buttermilk. The 7th day was a day of rest from treatments and drinking the medicated ghee. And for both breakfast and dinner, I had the same watery Kichari and Coconut Pulp as a treat to help with the hydration.

This week, I also starting walking 5km daily as I felt I wasn’t moving enough being limited in my room and the clinic so I got a local sim and Google mapped, different places to walk nearby.
